If you're tired of the classic romance tropes and looking for a book the makes a mockery of it, I recommend this one for you! Book Lovers by the renowned Emily Henry is full of satirical tropes seen in contemporary romance novels of the decade. Our main character Nora is your typical "villain" as the shark literary agent that can't keep a serious relationship and puts her career first, or so it seems. Her younger sister, Libby who's she taken care of since 20ish begs her to escape the hustle and bustle of NYC to go to a small town where Nora's big clients books takes place. On vacation she stumbles across her archenemies Charlie the intimidating editor who puts facts before considering others feelings. Without a doubt the enemies slowly become lovers in the most witty way possible....or don't they? I'm afraid if I say more I might spoil the book! I'll leave you with a quote that gives you a glimpse of the nostalgic sarcasm. "Our taxi driver looks like Santa Claus, down to the red T-shirt and the suspenders holding his faded jeans up. But he drives like the cigar-smoking cabbie from Bill Murray's Scrooged" (pg 31).
